Zygote is an alternative/progressive rock/metal band from Belgrade, Serbia.Founders of the band, Sava Jovic and Igor Kozic, assembled a unnamed four member band in 2007. with whom they worked on some of the ideas of the current Zygote material. A current four-member lineup, now known as Zygote, was established in the spring of 2008. by welcoming Ivan Stevanovic (on keyboards) and Vuk Babovic (on bass) into the band. Since then, the band has spent more than two years looking for an appropriate vocalist.It is during this time that the band established a relationship with another Belgrade's band, Monera, with whose vocalist (Jake O'bayne) they worked on a vocal version of their instrumental song, Kismet. In the spring of 2010., after almost 20 unsuccessful co-operations with different singers, both male and female, the band decided to remain a foursome, and the drummer and the guitarist took the vocals on themselves. Until the end of 2010. the band had several gigs with other similar artists such as Monera and Hipnagoga Slike, and recorded their first 6 songs - under a working title Cycle One - with a producer Milan Bjelica. The band is currently working on their new songs, at the same time promoting Cycle One, live and via internet.
